Delivery Efficiency Guide

How to enhance and optimize your delivery efficiency

Efficient delivery comes down to preparation, not by chance. Here are the 10 tips that we have today.

Updated

01

Ensure your items are packed before your driver arrives

  • Packing after the driver has arrived eats into your booking time and creates a cascade of lateness across your scheduled stops.
02

Ensure your items are clearly labelled by drop-off stop

  • Delivery moves faster when your driver knows exactly what goes to each stop.
  • Clear labelling is critical. It reduces driver unloading time at every stop.
03

Arrange your items by region beforehand

  • As your driver loads the vehicle, the furthest stops and regions go deep at the back while nearer ones sit by the doors.
  • Pre-arranging your items by region improves loading efficiency.
04

Understand your loading conditions

  • If your pickup point has no immediate loading-bay access, your loading time goes up.
  • If your goods need multiple trips on our XL trolley, that adds to your pickup time.
  • Lifts and long walks stretch pickup time significantly.
  • Factor these in when you plan your logistics.
05

Treat the optimized route as a guide, not a rule

  • If a stop needs to arrive earlier than the optimized order suggests, adjust the sequence to fit your real priorities.
06

Always plan with buffers

  • Thousands of factors affect delivery time, so avoid scheduling your stops to the minute.
  • Real-world conditions almost always beat on-paper theory.
07

Give your driver exact drop-off instructions

  • Can the location be accessed from the main road?
  • Where is the loading and unloading bay in complex sites like Marina One, Suntec City, or Takashimaya?
08

Understand your drop-off locations

  • HDB estates and landed homes are easiest, roughly 5 minutes per stop.
  • Condominiums usually take longer, depending on how fast your customer responds at the lift.
  • Suburban malls depend on the walk from the loading bay to the unit.
  • Downtown malls are the most complex and take the longest per trip.
  • Security passes vary: some sites need bays booked ahead, others swap passes on the spot. Knowing which improves drop-off efficiency.
  • Factor these in so your booking window is used fully without overshooting.
09

Brief your driver on any additional duties

  • Agree upfront on extras like proof-of-delivery, handling invoices and D.O.s, or helping set up and tear down.
  • Budget the time: these duties can add 5 to 10 minutes per stop.
10

Always engage the same driver

  • A driver who knows you and your customers improves delivery efficiency by a mile.
  • At BoxPls, we prioritise allocating drivers who have served you before, as much as we can.
